HARRISON, NEW JERSEY
Introduction
Harrison was originally incorporated in 1840 and has a
population of over 13,000. It is a suburb of Newark, New Jersey. The city
prides itself on being a “Beehive of Industry” – a term originally coined by
President William Howard Taft. It was the area in which the first American steam
engine was setup to remove water from Schuyler Copper mines. The city is
undergoing a
waterfront
redevelopment
project in order to take advantage of aspects such as the
PATH
station, historical characteristics, and its proximity to the Passaic River.
